100 Everyday Cathdrals Day 55 – Persistence

Every Saturday morning before church I meet with the elders of the church and talk about the week, pray for the church and dream about its future. For the past several years one of the elders always came in with a coffee and donut. Recently I started teasing him about bringing enough for everyone. This past Saturday morning he walked in with a box full of donuts for everyone.

This is my Everyday Cathedral today because it reminded me of a story Jesus once told of a friend going to another friends house at midnight asking for three loaves of bread because another friend showed up unexpectedly. Jesus says that because of this friend’s persistence he will give his friend the bread. Jesus used this story to remind us that if humans can give good gifts, God can give even better gifts. He encourages us to ask, seek, and search. 

Persistence pays off.
