100 Everyday Cathedrals Day 66 – Junk Drawer

Have you looked in your junk drawer lately? Mine’s in my kitchen and as it’s aptly named, it is full of junk. It’s filled with expired coupons, random tools, grocery store rewards cards and a ton of other…junk.

It’s the drawer where I put all the stuff I don’t know what do with, or know I need to do something with just not right away.

Sometimes parts of our past act like the junk drawer of our lives.

Our past is filled with experiences, relationships, emotions, situations, and people that sometimes we don’t want to deal with. We can try to forget those things as much as possible, but in reality we can only ignore that junk for so long. Our junk has a way of surfacing and taking hold of us when we least expect it to.

When thinking of our past, it’s important to consider embracing the good along with the bad. We are a make up of our lived experience. And who you are is ok.

That is my Everyday Cathedral, the reminder that who I am is ok just the way I am.
